In 2009, FACETS made a difference to more than 4,790 lives through its programs and services.

FACETS Facts and Numbers in FY09

  • FACETS is the only nonprofit in Fairfax County to provide services to families awaiting placement into one of the four family shelters in the county.
  • FACETS’ volunteers prepared and delivered 42,115 nutritious meals in FY09 to an average of 107 people each night – nearly a 20% increase since FY08.
  • 40 individuals participated in FACETS’ Supportive Housing program.
  • 4,790 individuals received services from FACETS’ Client Resource Center, Outreach to the Motels, and the Community of Faith food pantry.
  • Adults in 87 households, representing 257 clients took 3 or more steps toward self-sufficiency OR achieved affordable, stable housing.
  • Adults in 225 households, representing 698 clients took at least one step toward self-sufficiency.
  • In FY09, more than 300 individuals were given shelter at 21 faith communities during the fifth year of the Hypothermia Prevention Response Program, which ensures that everyone has a warm place to sleep throughout the winter, as well as nourishing meals, and the fellowship of friends.
  • 6 households (26 individuals) began vocational training- with four households completing a program.
  • 10 households (29 individuals) began process of obtaining GED; and, 3 households (10 individuals) attended ESL classes. Several households completed resumes with the help of the SAIC Success Academy! at FACETS.
  • 38 households (119 individuals) secured a new job or position, or maintained employment.
  • 45 households (113 individuals) achieved affordable, stable housing or maintained housing with help from FACETS case managers.
  • 264 households (830 individuals) engaged in case management services through Motel and Outreach family shelter waitlist programs, single adult services, supportive housing, and former client follow up.
  • FACETS gave out backpacks and school supplies to 307 youth.
  • 37 youth were able to attend summer camp.

The Supportive Housing Program provides long-term housing and social work services for individuals and families that are homeless. The families and individuals are chosen using a “Housing First” approach, which focuses on developing a positive and trusting relationship with a FACETS social worker and the community. Goals are established that yield the maximum degree of independence for the participant(s).
